Splat is a simple but fun flash card game with endless extension opportunities. See below for an overview of the game, and continue reading to see different ways we have played it.

Objective

Find matching letters, numbers, or words.

OR

Build fluency by quickly rereading and identifying letters, numbers, words, math facts etc.

Materials

Flash Cards

Directions

Prep: Lay out 6 - 12 cards face up.

For 2 Players:

1. The person who is NOT playing gives a clue to one of the cards.

2. The player(s) use their fly swatter to slap the correct card as quickly as possible.

For 3 Players:

1 person is the moderator, and the 2 players each have their own fly swatter.

  1. The moderator gives a clue to one of the cards.

  2. The first player who slaps the correct card wins a point. Play until one of the players reaches the pre-decided winning score.

Ways to Play

Chinese Vocabulary:

For this activity, I said the Chinese phrase, and Didi had to find the corresponding flash card.

For an added challenge, I said the English meaning of the Chinese phrase, then Didi had to slap the correct card, and use the phrase in a Chinese sentence.
