Boom is a simple but exciting flash card game with endless extension opportunities. See below for an overview of the game, and continue reading to see different ways we have played it.

Objective

Build fluency by repeatedly identifying letters, numbers, words, math facts etc.

Materials

Flash Cards

Drawstring bag or cup to place cards in (optional)

Directions

Prep: Place all cards in a drawstring bag or cup OR shuffle and lay them face down as a draw pile. Designate 2-4 cards to the be "Boom" card.

1. Take turns drawing a card and saying the letter, word, number, or math fact.

2. If correct, you may keep the card. If incorrect, place the card back in the pile.

3. If you draw a "Boom" card, return all of your cards to the pile.

4. The person with the most cards at the end of the game wins.

Ways to Play

Chinese Vocabulary:

For this activity, we took turns drawing flash cards with Chinese words from a cup. We made the number cards the Boom cards. This one kept us busy for a really long time because we had so many Boom cards.
